Let me start by saying it is my honor and privilege to be able to serve patients here in Spring Valley, WI. I strongly believe in our mission statement and care deeply about the patients I serve. I understand the anxiety that is associated with coming to a dental office and believe it is our job at Spring Valley Dentistry to make your visit with us a great experience. We are constantly looking to improve upon what we believe we already do very well. There are so many exciting new developments in dentistry and we're excited to be able to share those with our patients. I actively seek opportunities to advance my knowledge of dentistry and have been able to train under some of the very best practitioners throughout the country through continuing education. I am dedicated to lifelong learning because I want my patients to get the very best dentistry has to offer.

I graduated from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry in 2006 and went immediately into practice with one other dentist in Madison, WI. In August of 2009, I got an exciting opportunity to move to Western Wisconsin and take over the practice of a retiring dentist (Dr. Palumbo) here in Spring Valley. I love practicing and living in a small town and I am continually impressed by this community of people. I can think of no other place I would want to raise my children.

My wife, Mindy, and I were married in 2006 and had our first child, Madelyn in March of 2010, our second child Carter was born September 2011, our third child Nolan was born in August of 2014 and our fourth child, Grace was born April of 2017.  They are the joy of our lives!  I spend enough time sitting while at work so when I'm not there I enjoy being outdoors and being active. I love to fish and hunt and have been doing triathlons since 2002. Many patients question my loyalty to the Badgers as I did my dental training surrounded by rival Gophers, but I assure them all I was a Badger before entering Gopher territory and will always cheer for the Cardinal and White.

I understand a website can only tell you so much about a particular office and group of people and it can be a very difficult decision for people to take the first step back into dentistry. I was raised to believe you cannot know a person until you've walked in their shoes. I don't know most of the details of the lives of my patients, but I never judge them. My promise is to present my patients with the care I would want for my family and to treat them as guests in my home. Everyone is at a different point with regard to their dental health. We'll meet you where you're at without judgment and grow from there. Thanks for visiting.

Dentist

  • 1995 - Graduated with Bachelor's in Biology and Chemistry from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire

  • 1999 - Graduated with Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from University of Minnesota School of Dentistry

  • 2020 - certified Oral Facial Myofunctional Therapist

  • Current member of the Academy of Osseointegration

  • Current member of American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry

After graduating in 1992 from Spring Valley High School in Spring Valley, WI, Dr. Skow attended The University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.  She earned a bachelor's degree with high honors in biology and chemistry in only 3 years time. She then attended The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Minneapolis, MN, where she graduated with honors in '99. Dr. Skow is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). She is a current member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry.

Dr. Skow also has completed certification as an Oral Facial Myofunctional Therapist, having done so in the summer of 2020.

Dr. Skow enjoys practicing dentistry and prides herself in being aware of her patients' whole body health.  Airway care is her passion, and she strives to prevent sleep apnea and other breathing issues.  Breathing issues can be diagnosed in the mouth first, and Dr. Skow is astute in such diagnoses and treatment for all ages.  Proper breathing is of utmost importance in prevention of dental problems, among a host of other health issues.

Treating infants with issues feeding due to tongue and lip ties is something Dr. Skow feels is the most important thing she can do.  Treating tongue ties early establishes proper feeding, swallowing, breathing, and ultimately helps to prevent issues such as sleep apnea.  Proper breathing leads to proper sleep, therefore kids treated early can avoid a host of health problems including ADHD, anxiety, and bedwetting.

Practicing in her home town is something she enjoys, as she often sees 4 generations within a family.  Getting to know her patients and catering to their needs as she improves their health is what she enjoys most.  She is always learning, but to teach others to learn as she has is where she feels she can make the biggest impact in her area of  Western Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota.  Collaboration with other health care professionals is something Dr. Skow works toward, as her patients benefit most by collaboration of all specialties.

In her spare time she enjoys family time!  Her favorite activities are surfing in the summer, and snowmobiling in the winter.
