Let me start by saying it is my honor and privilege to be able to serve patients here in Spring Valley, WI. I strongly believe in our mission statement and care deeply about the patients I serve. I understand the anxiety that is associated with coming to a dental office and believe it is our job at Spring Valley Dentistry to make your visit with us a great experience. We are constantly looking to improve upon what we believe we already do very well. There are so many exciting new developments in dentistry and we're excited to be able to share those with our patients. I actively seek opportunities to advance my knowledge of dentistry and have been able to train under some of the very best practitioners throughout the country through continuing education. I am dedicated to lifelong learning because I want my patients to get the very best dentistry has to offer.

I graduated from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry in 2006 and went immediately into practice with one other dentist in Madison, WI. In August of 2009, I got an exciting opportunity to move to Western Wisconsin and take over the practice of a retiring dentist (Dr. Palumbo) here in Spring Valley. I love practicing and living in a small town and I am continually impressed by this community of people. I can think of no other place I would want to raise my children.

My wife, Mindy, and I were married in 2006 and had our first child, Madelyn in March of 2010, our second child Carter was born September 2011, our third child Nolan was born in August of 2014 and our fourth child, Grace was born April of 2017.  They are the joy of our lives!  I spend enough time sitting while at work so when I'm not there I enjoy being outdoors and being active. I love to fish and hunt and have been doing triathlons since 2002. Many patients question my loyalty to the Badgers as I did my dental training surrounded by rival Gophers, but I assure them all I was a Badger before entering Gopher territory and will always cheer for the Cardinal and White.

I understand a website can only tell you so much about a particular office and group of people and it can be a very difficult decision for people to take the first step back into dentistry. I was raised to believe you cannot know a person until you've walked in their shoes. I don't know most of the details of the lives of my patients, but I never judge them. My promise is to present my patients with the care I would want for my family and to treat them as guests in my home. Everyone is at a different point with regard to their dental health. We'll meet you where you're at without judgment and grow from there. Thanks for visiting.

Kristin D. Skow, D.D.S.

  • 1995 – Graduated with Bachelor's in Biology and Chemistry from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire

  • 1999 - Graduated with Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from University of Minnesota School of Dentistry

  • Current member of the Academy of Osseointegration

I am so pleased to be back in Spring Valley to practice dentistry.  I’m Dr. Kristin Skow, but if you knew me as I grew up here, I’m still Krissy to you.  When my friends in dental school met me in 1995, they were introduced to me as Kristin, and patients meeting me after that know me as their doctor.  When I’m called Krissy, though, I know I’m home. (I even answer to Kari or Anne on occasion).

After high school graduation from SVHS in 1992, I attended UW-EC, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry with honors in 3 years time.  I began dental school at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 1995, obtaining my DDS with honors in 1999.

My first job was at Park Dental at their “Scenic Hills” location.  This location of Park Dental no longer exists, but I credit that experience to be much like a general practice residency.  I learned how to handle almost anything during that year at Park Dental!  I owe so much to my wonderful mentor there, Dr. Elena Lozne.

In early November of 2000, I was blessed with my first child, Lauren.  Another daughter,  Ava, came along in June of 2004.  From the years 2001 through 2005, I worked part time in Spring Valley, at that time with Dr. Jack Palumbo.  Those years provided a great learning experience not only in dentistry, but in balancing work and family.  Dr. Palumbo had been my childhood dentist and had mentored me in becoming a dentist, so I was thankful to work in his office.

In May of 2005, Dr. Palumbo was getting closer to a time of retirement, and I was still wanting to spend most of my time with Lauren and Ava, so the timing to buy his practice was not right for me.   There was an opportunity at Cedar Creek Dental in Menomonie, WI for part time work, so I began practicing there 2 days a week.

I spent 12 years at Ceder Creek Dental.  In the Summer of 2016, Dr. Connors and his wife, Mindy, had me over for dinner and presented the idea of my return to Spring Valley Dentistry.  After lots of thought, prayer, and consideration, I excitedly decided to take the leap!

I enjoy serving my community with dental care in so many ways, but the great part lies in the relationships built.  To be comfortable with your dentist requires a great deal of trust, and I am humbled each and every time my patient trusts me.  I’m excited to see what the future holds as I become even more tightly woven into my favorite place to be - my hometown.

I seek a simple, honest life and career, so I feel very blessed to have found just that.
